What's up, December?
Well well well, it's already December - sheesh! I really can't believe how fast this year has gone. It seems like just yesterday we were in my old, tiny 20 square-meter apartment eating scallops, mashed potatoes and broccoli, celebrating Christmas a mere 7,500 miles away from my family.
Today is December 14th and I'm still not sure if I'll be able to make it back to the states for the holidays. Chinese New Year comes earlier this year (end of January, I believe), so I'll be dipping down to south-east China for that...hopefully, I can sneak away and see my folks this year. I haven't been home for Christmas in 3 years or something.
Anyway, it's time for an update. Push Fest was awesome, despite me being very very sick throughout the entire event. I skated the ramp for a couple hours, won some shoes that don't fit and an Olloclip case for a phone I don't have, and proceeded to drive straight home afterwards and sleep. Here we are a couple weeks later and I'm still feeling a bit under-the-weather. Winters here are tough, man.
But let's keep it moving. This weekend, we have a Steak Frites Art Show at Fly Streetwear. Steak Frites, a moniker for Jack Moore's series of art shows originally taking place at Signal Kitchen in Burlington, VT, has gone international.
Jack used to live out here in Shanghai a couple years ago and decided to come back for a visit this month. He's been bustin' tail, making art and throwing events. The event coming up this Friday at FLY should be a ton of fun. If you're a Shanghai lurker reading this, be sure to come out and say what's up!
In other news, we've still been skating despite the frigid temperatures. Here's a photo JMART shot of me last weekend while we were out in Pudong on a spot-surveillance mission.
Aside from skating, I've been working on a B2B e-commerce business with my 2 coworkers/partners. Hopefully, I can share a bit more about that soon.
I'm trying to learn Python too. I'm almost halfway through the Code Academy intro course, and hope to come up with a project soon to apply/develop these new "skills" with. I'm using skills lightly, because frankly I still have no idea what I'm doing.
Well, that should be it for now! Hope everyone's December is going well and that you're with your loved ones.
